Wow has the past week been hard. How are other queer disabled parents talking to their children about what happened?
I know the last post was over 2yrs ago, but, this is a topic I find difficult as well. I am assuming we are discussing explaining to be our children how you became disabled. I find the process changes slightly with the age of your kids but it’s important to decide on your “story” and stay consistant and simple. I have learned the hard way to imagine your story as if your child were repeating it to a friend because they will. What you think are important details may get lost and completely misrepresent your disability. It can be a mess with their parents and friends. Anyway, trust me, they will ask for specifics as they process the information throughout their lifes and you should answer them. I have always believed the truth (age appropriately) is the best. Hope this helps
